Video Tutorial

Add Categories & Tags #

This is an optional step.

Categories help you group your videos. Categorizing and tagging your videos make it easier for your users to find them in searches and on tag or category pages.

Also, the plugin has the option to display a gallery with a combination of single or multiple categories/tags. This allows you to have a more customized gallery display on your site’s front end.

The video categories option is identical to creating categories for your WordPress posts but this is different.

Navigate to your “WordPress Admin Dashboard / Video Gallery / Video Categories” menu, enter a name, and description, upload an image, then click on the “Add New Category” button to add a category.

Use this menu to add as many categories as you need before moving to the next step.

There is also a tag section that works identically to this but isn’t required. It does provide more filtering options for the actual gallery if you choose to do so.

Add Videos #

Next, we can start adding the videos. You can upload videos from your PC. The plugin supports a variety of video formats like “MP4”, “WebM”, “OGV” and “MOV”. If you are uploading a video file from your PC, we would suggest using the “MP4” file format as it’s the only file format to support almost every modern browser and device.

You can also add videos from third-party services like “YouTube”, “Vimeo”, “Dailymotion”, “Rumble”, and “Facebook” or the embed-codes from any website.

We will add a YouTube video for the sake of this tutorial.

Navigate to the “WordPress Admin Dashboard / Video Gallery / All Videos” menu, and click on the “Add New” button.

This will open up a new post that is only intended for a video.

  1. Add a “Title” and “Description” for the video.
  2. Scroll down to the “Video Info” section.
  3. Select the “Source Type” as “YouTube“.
  4. Enter your “YouTube URL” into the appropriate text box.
  5. Select “Categories” and “Tags” if applicable.
  6. Fill in other details available in the video form.Note: The plugin can auto-generate the “Thumbnail Image” for the videos from the YouTube/Vimeo/Dailymotion/Rumble websites. So, you can leave the image field empty for these source types. The PRO version has the option to auto-generate thumbnail images for the self-hosted videos.
  7. Finally, click the “Publish” button to save the video.

After publishing, You will find the shortcode for the video next to the “Publish” button. This is handy if you want to place an individual video on your website.

Repeat these steps to add as many videos as you want. The “Source Type” option allows you to select and add different kinds of videos.

Remember that the video must be added first before you can add it to the gallery.
